Healthy, sustainable meals for children - that's one of the aims of Natur genéissen. The project defines specific requirements for food purchasing at the daycare centers, which are set out in a specification sheet. The principles of regionality, seasonality and sustainability are firmly anchored in these specifications, in order to support regional agriculture and Natur genéissen in particular. At the same time, the specifications contain guidelines for a healthy, sustainable nutrition.

The participating municipalities with their Natur genéissen childcare and education services are committed to purchasing at least 13% of the value of their food supplies from Natur genéissen producers. This way, they support Natur genéissen producers in preserving and creating habitats for indigenous animal and plant species. Furthermore, regional products, whether from conventional or organic farming, should be preferred to other products. The purchase of products from Luxembourg is mandatory for certain products that are produced in sufficient quantities in Luxembourg, such as beef and dairy products. The Natur genéissen childcare and education services thus contribute to strengthening the economy of regional agriculture. In addition, at least 30% of the total value of food is spent on organic products.
